If it was not for the VIP, Why AIIMS bed remained vacant when the nation facing a horrible 2nd wave?

In this post, I write less and let the headlines and data to speak their story. Headlines in this post are of the 3rd week of April 2021. Data of AIIMS is dated 20th April 2021.

If you read closely the data on the occupancy of covid beds in AIIMS, You will find a pattern. It can not be a mere coincidence that occupancy of covid beds was 82-83% in most of AIIMS on 20th April. 18-20% of beds were vacated ( Reserved for the VIP ? ) on the 20th April 2021 when the nation was gripped in horrible 2nd covid wave. Why?

Patna, Bihar

Bhashkar 20 April

Total Covid beds - 270
Covid Bed occupancy - 82%

Nearly 48 Covid beds remain vacant in AIIMS Patna when citizens of Bihar struggling and traveling hundreds of km to get treatment.

Furthermore, the total number of beds in AIIMS Patna was 960 while only 270 reserved for the covid. Here 690 beds reserved for the non-covid where occupancy was just 30%. It means, More than 400 Beds could be made available for the covid treatment without jeopardizing non-covid treatments.


Bhopal, Madhyapradesh

Bhaskar - 19 April

Total Covid beds - 500
Covid Bed occupancy - 82%

When the State government was finding a new place to establish covid care centers, 90 covid beds were vacated in AIIMS, Bhopal.

106 ICU ventilator beds facilities established in AIIMS Bhopal. Out of 106, only 91 ICU ventilator beds were occupied on 20th April. That means 15 ICU ventilator beds were available in AIIMS Bhopal when citizen lost their dear ones due lack of medical access.


Bhubaneswar, Odisha

The Hindu - 20 April

Total Covid beds - 116
Covid Bed occupancy -65%

When Bibek Maher romped 16 hours to get a bed for his father in Bhubaneswar, 40 beds were vacant in the AIIMS Bhuvneshawr.

When Bibke maher struggling to get the bed for his father, 9 ICU beds out of 32 were available in the AIIMS Bhuv.


Raipur, Chhattisgarh

The Print - 17 April

Total Covid beds - 487
Covid Bed occupancy - 83%

When Just 40 km away from the Raipur, a Citizen in Durg ghasping for oxygen, 82 Covid Beds in the AIIMS Raipur were vacant.

It is shocking to note that 81 Covid Ventilors beds were available in AIIMS Raipur and all 81 were vacant on 20th April. *


Dehradun, Uttrakhand

Hindustan

Total Covid beds- 350
Occupancy of Covid beds - 70%
When the citizen forced to travel 240 in an ambulance for the patient of Haridwar, 105 beds in AIIMS Rishikesh vacant which is just 20 km away from Haridwar.


PGMIR, Chandigarh

Bhaskar - 18 April

The geographic location of this hospital is such that it serves the citizen of the 4 states- Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Himachal Pradesh.

Total Covid beds - 171
Covid Bed occupancy -51%

Covid ventilator - 40
Covid Ventilor occupancy - 23

On 20th April when the COvid cases were it peak of that time, 50% of the covid beds and 40% of the ventilator in the premier hospital of the city remained vacant.

Jodhpur, Rajasthan

Total Covid beds- 220
Occupancy of Covid beds - 82.27%


AIIMS Delhi *

As per these reports, the Former Prime minister, Current Home minister etc have to take covid treatment in the AIIMS Delhi.

But as per the AIIMS Delhi, There is no covid bed in AIIMS Delhi except for the employee. Here is the official record.
